SmartBolus™ Details

Benefits:

You can monitor cow temperatures effortlessly.  The system will monitor the temperatures of your cows throughout the day, every day alerting you when a cow's temperature is out of the norm.  Catching illness early is key to minimizing the impact on production.

You can monitor cow motion effortlessly.  The system will monitor the motion of your cows throughout the day, every day, alerting you when a cow's motion deviates from the norm.  This helps with heat detection and early indications of lameness.

The system uses an active bolus which means it can periodically send data from the cow without having to have the cow pass by a reader panel.  No manual scanning is involved, it is a fully automated system.

The system can monitor the drinking patterns of the cow.  This can be an early warning system for rumen health issues.

Residing inside the cow the bolus is well protected from the kind of physical damage that is typical of sensors placed on the outside of cows (ears, neck etc.)

Do the cows have a hard time swallowing the bolus?

No, it's pretty straightforward. Here is a video showing bolus insertion.
